Block Heaters

Whose got em? And who uses em?
Bought a new cord for the block heater on the GTP today, installed it, good to go for the weekend, its currently about 40F outside, but Saturday is going to be around -25F, so...Shes gunna need the extra kick of heat to start.
Yes, our weather is VERY un-predictable.

Reminds me of this old pic i took at my parents house years ago. NOTE. its so cold the extension cord wont even touch the ground, it hit -52F that night. And, it started, only due to the fact that it was "plugged in"

I park in a garage. Not heated, but warmer than the outside temp

Mine has one - so did the 94 but the 94 had the cord pulled out of the heater.

I will never need one though.

my car has one but I never use it. I haven't had any issues starting mine in -15* weather either. Actually I have probably started it even when it was colder, I just don't recall the coldest it has been when I have. If I ever start having issues I'll probably bust it out then.

I park in a 55* shop so no overnight cold parking issues. And even if I did have a heater, the only place I'd need it would be at school, and there's no plug ins there anyways. Never had a cold starting problem in a vehicle, no matter what the temperature.

I got one and I plug it in whenever the the temps go below 0*F. Starts are so much easier.

Only used it once many years ago.........just to see if it worked.

My car came out of FL, (I know that for sure now), and I doubt it has one, but if it did, where would it be?

I ordered mine with one and use it all the time. The cord died on it but you had to order the entire heater just to get the cord.
I think installing a factory one would be a real project with the engine in the car.

Nope, the 99 didn't come with one. I've been jump starting the car for the past 3 weeks, religiously, daily.

I'd assume I'd never need a block heater. It really doesn't get below 10*F overnight, sometimes rarely when we get our cold snap in January.

I don't have a block heater, but i'ts been below zero the past few nights here and my car starts in the morning with no trouble with an 8 year old battery

For me, is isn't about starting but about the fact that you get heat almost immediately and you get much better fuel economy during the warmup cycle.

I've never had one, or ever used one. My LeSabre could have used one in the past (parked in a garage nowadays), and my mom's Buick Rainier could definitely use one (that thing NEVER starts when it's cold out).

Yeah, that would be nice, but I noticed I don't have that problem with the Bonneville - it heats up quick for me, especially once I start driving it (must be that M90 on top of the engine, lol).
