Was reading on CGP how some GTP's have been found to have as much of a ration as 1.8 on their original rocker arms and I'm wondering if mine might possibly be that high, thus helping to understand how my car can pull so well up top, and overall.
A few people have been wondering how my car is capable of times and speeds that have mainly been acheived by cars with high ratio rockers or one or two other mods, none of which I had on my car at the time of the 13.xxx runs.
How does one go about checking the ratio of their rockers? I am probably going to put the HS 1.9's next week and would like to check the stock rockers if I can before I get rid of them.

So I'd like to say don't get rid of your stock rockers, valve springs or pushrods. Also keep the rocker ped with the set. You never know when your going to need them. Try to keep them all oiled sloppy and wet, in a ziplock bag.
Iknow that the ratio is determined by how far the pushrod seat is to the trunion. The closer to the trunion, the higher the ratio, valve opens sooner and stays open longer.
Are you changing your springs?
Sorry, didn't look at your sig before posting .. your motor.

Times after 1.9RR's go on should be a good indicator. I suspect you have 1.9 mod'd rockers and don't know it because they don't look any different than stock ones. That would justify your 98mph trap speed.

How about the 99.1x-99.67 mph runs?
That is a good point on the post RR install times, but I've got the ported SC, 3.3", Ceramic coated P-log, and fine tune all going on between now and Oct. 18 and/or 19 when I head to the track for the last time this year.
I've also got a pair of slicks coming again (just waiting for the QTP owner to clarify he's ok with me running them again while he's @ college in IL).

After you take them off, post pics of the pushrod sockets on your "stock" rockers and the "stock" pedestals and we'll see if they are modified stockers.

1.8 on stock rockers is myth. There was some dispute at to whether later models had 1.66:1 versus 1.60:1. This may be explained more by production tolerances and measuring techniques than anything else.
There's nothing unusual about your trap speeds. When I had similar mods I did similar times to yours with even slightly higher trap speeds.
Cheers,

agreed with Paul. I have Trapped 102mph in my car with out a bolt being touched on the motor.Foghorn wrote:1.8 on stock rockers is myth.
