Possible Oversized (11/16 vs 5/8) rad for 00-05 Bonnevilles

Post by JEFFSSSEI »

My radiator blew on the way home from work tonight, after getting a ride to the local oreilleys telling them year, make model "vin-1" etc. told them I needed a radiator...he said which one we show two and spun the monitor around for me to look at...they were both Murry Brand Radiators (lifetime warranty) and the only difference I could see in the pics and specs was what was in the description: one was a 5/8 core (stock) and one was an 11/16" core. I bought the 11/16" core one. I will be doing the swap tomorrow and will update with whether it is in fact the correct radiator with just a wider core. I know there are multiple threads on other radiators that can be used with work arounds, but I don't remember anyone saying anything about an oversized core last year when I replaced it (yes you read that right it's less than a year old and because I was stupid and bought it on Amazon, the warranty is out.) :banghead:

Anyway, like I said I will update/advise if it actually fits.

An oversized radiator would be something like the GXP core width of 1.3125"

We are talking a difference of 0.625" and 0.6875". If you have to get out your calipers, there is no performance gain.
