02 bonneville sle Passenger side windows issues

Post by ChippaT »

I'm having window issues with my 02 Bonneville SLE. When i bought this car back in 2018 passenger side windows front and rear never worked(both drivers side front and rear windows work). when using the switches on the passenger side front window i could only hear a single click per flip of the switch(relay), no motor sound, no snapped cable sound. window stays up. On the passenger side rear window when the switch was flipped the motor worked and i could hear the cable move around but the window wouldnt go up or down. regulator is most likely bad but i vicegripped the the window in place and forgot about it as i didnt have the money to fix it. Come 2021 i want to fix them. I went out and tested the rear window once again with the switch and now the regulator and motor doesnt move at all and acts like the front window. Will test out the motors for both windows and swap the regulator for the rear window, but with my luck its probably a wiring issue. As im not an electrician wiring gets very confusing very fast. Everything else works, powered mirrors, door locks, lights etc. Any help with which wires to check first, along with the ddm, pdm, lrdm, rrdm and their respective locations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A little update. I used a light tester on the passenger front and rear windows. When i tested the passenger rear window by touching the relay wires i could hear the regulator moving, since the light tester is attached to ground, makes me think i have a grounding issue. good news so far. When testing the front passenger window, i didnt have any power(constant, or when flipping the switch). Leads me to believe theres a break in the wire somewhere. I learned theres a poor splice behind the drivers side seat, under the carpet, thats susceptible to corroding and eventually breaking due to pooling water. But after reading numerous forums that issue usually kills 3 windows (not including drivers side front window), passenger side power lock, and passenger side power mirror. So i dont think thats the issue in my case. My next thought is a break in the wire, in the boot, between the body and the door. Am i on the right track? Is there something im missing? Fuses look to be in good shape as well.

Window regulators have been problematic, here's a link with some helpful info. Search BonnevilleClub site for more good info. Good Luck

I second that. Considering how old the Bonneville's are getting nowadays, it isn't surprising. Replacing the regulator isn't too difficult - just make sure you don't mess up any wiring.

What a confusing day. I took out the front passenger window motor, tested it, worked like a charm put it back in and got nothing. Then I put 12 volts into the connectors and somehow that fixed it. Runs up and down smooth. :dontknow: and now the passenger rear will go up but wont come down unless grounded via light tester on the rear switch connector kinda like the drivers rear, but the master switch will make the drivers rear move up and down but not the passenger rear(only up). Anybody know the cause of this? Im still thinking a grounding issue, or a switch issue but at this point Im running out of ideas. Thank you for the replies!
