Voltage?!

Post by 84star »

Ok so this is my son's first car and I talked him in to Bonnieville! Been trying to get it all right since I got it rebuilt trans new tires new dash cluster now the dash shows volts on high side I went and got new alternator and I'll be *dang* if them volts ain't in the same spot! So I put old one back on returned the new... Because I'm not replacing parts for no reason lol... So I guess my question is does anyone elses volts read a bit high? I would post pic but I can't figure out how to do it on here lol it's half way between the 14 and the thick line on good side of red spot so I'm guessing 15ish... Any ideas????now when we first got car it had high voltage code but has been cleared and have not have another one ... Any input great maybe it's just this cars normal!!

My car reads anywhere from 14.3-14.9 depending on many factors.

Original alternator, 2003 SLE, 215k miles.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine always reads high as well. Usually around 15-ish. No problems from it as far as I know.

I wouldn't worry. Mine is always between 14.3 and 14.7 depending on accessory load. If the battery is run down, I have seen it go to 14.9. I assume the regulator is trying to charge the battery faster in that case. Is your battery fully charged?
