Thanks for taking to time to read my introduction. It's a bit long, because of the craziness involved in the purchase, so apologies :(
But my name is Chris. I am a disabled 26 year old here in Ontario, Canada who previously owned a 1983 Olds Delta 88.
I loved that car so much. Unfortunately, it ended up scrapped due to there being too much rust.
So after a life changing accident back in May, with my 2009 Impala, I decided it was time to get back to life, and choose another classic.
And last month, I ended up purchasing a '1984 Bonneville. Here's the ad.
The main reason it caught my eye, because as you can see, it says "No rust on car"

Well that unfortunately turned out to be a big lie. The floor pans need to be completely replaced ffs

But thats just the beginning. Lets back up a bit.
My bodyman came with me before I purchased it in mid July.
We had discovered a rust hole, in the drivers side floorpan. However, because it appeared to be small, and easily patched, we agreed to still purchase the car, but at a lower price.
The seller, hesitated but agreed.
We came back a few weeks later, with the rest of the cash, and some plates. Noticed the fuel tank was reading past F, as we started driving the 401.
Based on my previous experiences with my Delta 88, I knew this could either mean either one of 3 things.
A. Tank was topped off, and float was just stuck.
B. Ground wire was busted on the sender unit.
C. Sender unit was broken.
So I decided that patience was indeed a virtue, and pulled over on the highway to text the seller.
I was surprised, when he admitted to me, the gauge malfunctions and that the float was "stuck temporarily", and to try filling the tank.
Remember, the ad never stated this.

Well, I filled the tank on the way back with zero change. Decided to wait a few more days after, and fill it again. No change again.
I also notice the power steering began to leak. But it was a pinhole, so I didn't want to confront the seller about it, because he may have not known.
But while trying to do the 3rd fill of the tank a few weeks ago, it started developing air pockets, and making me have to pump gas into the tank slowly.
I look under the car and? The fuel sender unit is leaking. So thats when I finally admit to myself I had been scammed, he omitted that on purpose in the ad, and what else I wasn't sure.
So I tried calling the seller, only for him to send a text saying he was driving, and never would receive a response back. But it gets worse sadly!

My bodyman and I, decided last weekend to patch that hole. Turns out, this wasn't as small as we thought.
Because after removing the old carpet, it lifted so much rust, to the point where my bodyman said in his 30 years of work, never had he seen it so rotten, to the point where even the tunnel was soft, its disgusting to even picture. Flintstone special ffs
He said it was so bad, that the only way to restore it properly, like I want to, is to weld an entirely new floorpan.
So I'm now trying to find both pieces, hopefully without involving me having to deal with the COVID craziness, in terms of US shipping and draconian customs charges.
Other than those issues, the car has a nice running 305 motor @154,000KM, 3 Speed TH200 trans. Rest of the body is clean, especially trunk.
If anyone in the Ontario area, or Canada in general, has floor pans & transmission dust covers too- that would be helpful.
Thanks for reading my essay
