2019 Fall color tour

Post by MattStrike »

Those of you on the book know that I've changed my mind about a color tour this year. So I'll be spending the weekend in the car looking at trees that aren't green.

Friday night - drive out to West MI.
Saturday - drive up the scenic route along lake Michigan
Sunday morning - drive back.

The planned route:

Dates are TBD, October 25th. It's a rolling attempt at catching the peak colors on the west Michigan shoreline. Once the 2019 fall color predictions go live I will lock in the date.

The plan I think would be to head out at 9:00 am, and make regular stops at random scenic places.
First stop would be South Haven for a quick breakfast (not a sit-down joint lol)
Next, the beach at Muskegon.
Then make it to Manistee by lunchtime. From here the pace will slow a little, take time to enjoy lunch possibly.
There's a tourist trap called old faceful. It' a slightly large rock.
A twisty looking road near Arcadia
Some interesting looking derelict ships off the beaten path in Frankfort
Point Betsie lighthouse
Sugar Loaf Mountain (overlook area)

Depending on weather and overnight accommodation, we could either grille out, bonfire.
