Helping friend with EGR woes.

Post by BonnSSEi_Lass »

Hi guys, I'm. Helping my friend replace a simple EGR tube. The patient is a 1992 Bonneville ssei, series 1, m62 SC, all-that-jazz.
We both were unsure of something and thought id bring it to chat.
His EGR tube is as hard to find as crack-head waldo; never be able to know which house hes in lol, anyway...
He has multiple cracks in his EGR tube, as if someone tried to pull it off still bolted in. He tried to order a replacement and every place he is ordered from oh, he has ordered for the years 92 93 94 and 95. They send him the same 95 n up model egr tube, which is larger in diameter.

Question is...
Will opening up the tube holes to fit this larger diameter tube, will it cause any issues with idling, drivability, etc...
I say no, but had to think long first about it. Thought i ask the experienced here in the forum.
Thanks in advance an always appreciated.

As long as it fits and seals off properly I don't see why that would cause issues.

measure the inside and outside diameter of tube, and see if it will seat properly.

I would first try sealing the cracks with a high temp epoxy, jb weld extreme heat..
poverty forces one to do unorthodox things

I was gonna offer up the solution of JB Weld on the cracks.
