Can't figure this out...
I had a code P0125 for a bad engine coolant temp sensor and the transmission had thrown a P1860 code for the torque converter.
A month or two ago, I replaced the ECT sensor and thermostat. Changed trans fluid & filter.
Used the Tech 2 to clear the codes.
Shifts nicely now. Runs well. Heats up to operating temps.
The I/M Monitors all show as Ready or OK BUT the P0125 and P1860 tests are shown as NOT RAN SINCE CODE CLEARED.
I don't get why.
Iodya the temp was about 35 Fahrenheit, so I strted her up, pulled out of drive without idling, drove through the suburbs for 10 minute or so and then drove above 50mph on a couple of highways for a half hour.
Still these 2 are NOT RAN SINCE CLEARED status.
I'm afraid this will prevent her from passing a state safety and emissions inspection.
Any ideas why I can't get the tests to run?

Re: Can't figure this out...
Thanks, Jeff.
According to the service manual, the conditions for the test were met, but it still didn't do the 2 tests.
If not for the slow down to 20 without braking part, I'd do the drive cycle.
Unfortunately, in my heavily populated area, I'd probably get shot by someone with road rage for going too slow!
I do appreciate the link.
Thanks for replying.

Re: Can't figure this out...
I also had an issue with IM monitors..............follow the post below and see.
http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 48253.html
the two codes you cleared may not be a 'continuous monitored system' so, as long as the MIL is not on and all monitors in IM pass/ok, you should be good

Re: Can't figure this out...
Some thoughts. Have you double checked your coolant level? Possibly skewed cts? The ecm needs to see determined temperature in a set time frame, if not monitors won’t run.

Re: Can't figure this out...
Thanks for the replies, gentlemen.
96 SSEi, I sure hope that's true in my state.
michtom, I'm going to bleed the system again to rule out trapped air.
The ECT sensor is good. I had replaced it after the code was set and the gauge and scan tool temp readings match.
I did notice that the D indicator light momentarily blinked for a split second, more than once.
I'm waiting for a warmish day to see if the 20 way connector is tight at the transaxle.
I'm really not sure how to disconnect it to inspect for corrosion on the pins.
