SECURITY LIGHT ON MY 2000

Post by archaicguy »

When I start my car the security light stays illuminated some times and not others. If it stays on I restart the car and it goes out. What is the issue with that and will anything happen if it is driven with the security light still on?

you can test the system by locking the car with one window open.
wait 5 - 10 minutes.
now reach in the window and open the door.
this will trigger the theft system. if it works then ignore the dic.
if its the dash light, you only have to be interested if it flashes and the car wont start....lol
mine has done the same for 4 years and no issues starting - runs like a champ. I wouldnt worry unless you get starting issues.

and to answer your question, no, nothing will be harmed if the dash light is on while you drive. when you shut car off, the light should flash to remind you to arm the system. when you strart the car, it may be on and stay on solid - thats ok
flashing light while starting the car is a theft system problem - if it stays solid, no worry.
