There has been many threads about people fixing the water leaks
that occur on this generation under the cowl, usually passenger side,
at the body seams. I have that same leak.
The problem is all the pictures in these old threads are no longer hosted
and I can't view them. I hate that. I always leave ALL my pictures
hosted so old threads stay relative and informative. Anyway...
The high body seams are impossible to get to from inside without removing the
dash among other things.
Can someone show me if I can seal it up from the outside under
the cowl vents or somewhere else near the firewall???
I really can't find the actual source -- the actual place to seal up.
I would just be guessing. Also any recommendations as WHAT to
use for sealer - maybe urethane??

Is the path to success possibly through the fenders?

I thought about that. It was an unhappy thought, but could end up asRJolly87 wrote:Is the path to success possibly through the fenders?
the solution.

Re: 90's Generation cowl water leak question
this is also just a guess but on my 96 SE turned out that the seal around the fresh air intake (located about midway the cowl area) was source of leak. remove the screen covering the cowl area. caulk around the rectangular fresh air intake. it is difficult to get a caulk gun to reach around all the four sides, I improvised by connecting small flexible plastic tube. used the GE 100% black silicon. leak gone going on 4 years. water was actually getting into driver side rear floor area. still haven't figured out the path as water did not show up in front driver or passenger side.
