2001 Bonnie goes through ignition control modules
I just put in the third one in about 2 years. I replaced coils wires and plugs the last time. Of course I couldn't find a receipt for the first 2. This one is taped into the owners manual.

I went through 2 ICM"S in about 8 months on my 2001 SLE.
The first was a Standard brand and the second was a Delphi brand.
I finally got an OEM unit from Andrew and knock on wood it has been about 14 months now and everything is good.
I also used some die electric grease under the unit to keep the temperature down.
Another fine example of garbage from China!

Anything aftermarket that is ignition related is junk on these cars. Stick to OEM. Used OEM is far superior to brand new aftermarket.

Aftermarket parts quality nowadays is truly appalling.
For the money the parts cost, they're truly a ripoff.
Just today I discovered that the 3 month old Delphi fuel pressure regulator has gone bad.
Holy geez, how tough can it be to make a vacuum diaphragm that doesn't leak?
They probably saved .005 cents and used thinner neoprene.
It's so much fun to do a job again because the part is defective.
GRRR...end of rant

Re: 2001 Bonnie goes through ignition control modules
I share your pain!
I am convinced that after the recession of 2009 the world is run by bean counters.
All that matters is ROI.(return on investment)
I am a salesman and I hear it from my customers about their management talking about ROI.
They really do not care about quality or service as much as they care about profit.
Maybe what happened a little over 3 weeks ago will change some of these ideas and bring stuff back here.
I love how companies will replace the part no charge but could care less about your time or labor.
If they make 100 parts in China and 10 are bad they are still making a large profit despite replacing the bad ones.
That is my rant for day!
