Missing and a p0300 code.

Post by Rubidon »

My car has started missing and flashing the sel light. My wife said it started on her after she got some gas at a station we dont normally use. Since then I have put at least three bottles of dry gas in it and four fill ups from my normal gas station. It only does it if you drive aggressively. If the boost gauge starts reading boost then it starts missing, but if you just roll into the gas with a vacuum reading it doesnt do it. If you drive up a steep incline and put a load on it the it will miss. I have read to change plugs and wires. The plugs are 104's and the wires are ones from ZZP and both are only maybe 20k miles old. Do you guys still think it is ignition related? I do have some new plugs and wires in the garage that i am going to put in as soon as it is not butt freezing cold out side, just wanted some opinions..

Sounds like the ignition control module is going bad. It's what the coils sit on.

I got mine used with all the Coil Packs. I've had it (them) probably 3 years without any problems. Go to your local JY. If you buy all 4 pieces (ICM and 3 coil packs), try to get them off a SuperCharged GM 3800 (or buy them them from harofreak00 - Andrew). - BC

Don't buy it new, hit up our parts guy, harofreak00. Or as mentioned above, check the yards.

It is not crucial to get these components from a supercharged motor, as they are pretty much exactly the same. The L67 coils just produce a slightly hotter spark.

I swapped the ICM with a used one that i had and the problem still existed.i put the other ICM back in and started Taking the plugs out one at a time starting with the front bank. All was fine on the front so i moved to the back. All was good until i got to the last plug wire (#6) . The plug wire was laying on the heat shield below the plug!!! At first i was mad!! I paid $100 for these zzp 10.5 wires and it just falls off!! WTH, then i calmed down and took responsibility and must not of locked it on the plug.i bought a new wire and it has been good ever since.
