no start / security system fault

Post by smittyingr »

Hey guys been a while but now I have a 3.5 Aurora. So I bought this with a bad tranny but it did drive and I drove it home no problem with security. I replaced the trans and a fuel pump due to a bad level sensor now it won't start. I get nothing at all when key turns to start. With the key in the on position the security light is on and the DIC said security system fault. I have no idea where to start with this so any help would be awesome. The lock cylinder does seem a little loose maybe if that means anything but it was fine that way when I bought it. Thanks guys.

A few other things. I have tried both keys with no results. The fuel pump is not powering also and I believe that's what the security does is the fuel pump and the starter. Also the interior lights and the headlights or running lights maybe stay on way to long after I try starting it.

Wow $124 later the dealer tells me I missed a ground. Sometimes I question if I should own sockets.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help here, glad to see you got it figured out though! $124 for diagnostics is still a heck of a lot cheaper then having a shop do all the work to begin with though so you're still well ahead of the game :) thanks for posting the resolution for this.
