Aftermarket Coil Packs

I was thinking of replacing my ignition coils, wires and spark plugs with Accel products. Anyone have any suggestions on this? Or is there an upgrade from the Stock coils, wires and plugs that will give better spark timing and burn fuel better to give more power?

You will want stock coils. They are the best. L67 coils are a little hotter, so you can try them if you'd like.

Spark timing is controlled by the PCM, not the coils. On your SE, you can try L67 coils, Belden wires, and some good stock heat range iridium plugs. Those would be the best ignition components.

x2, I have a set of L67 coils on my L36. Nothing hugely noticeable, but that's because there isn't an issue with the stock ignition system.

Don't go spending a ton of money, if you can find all 3 for about $30/used maybe a junk yard, do that. But don't spend anything more.

A lot of the higher performing 3800 guys still run stock ignitions because even with all the modifications and extra horse power they haven't exceeded it capabilities yet.

The ACCEL coils are JUNK! Every set people have gotten on here, thinking they're getting a cheap performance boost, have failed. Stick with OEM coils, if you feel like you must upgrade, get a set of coils off a Series II or III supercharged. They'll have a blue section on the bottom, that's how you know they're the S/C coils.

The PCM sets the timing, all the coils do is deliver it. The OEM system does a good job at what it's supposed to do. There is very little to be gained from upgrading, at any level. Certainly not on a stock N/A. Most of the fastest 3800's use OEM coils and OEM replacement style plug wires.
