98 SE rusted out rocker panel

Post by Djkthegame »

Anyone on here ever done it or is it junkyard time. Has anyone ever heard of one of these cars collapsing?

The rockers on a 92-99 aren't structural. My LeSabre had hardly anything left, and the 96 is getting there. It's mostly subframe mounts/cradles you want to be sure are solid.

The outer panel of the rocker by itself is not structural, but the metal behind it is. So take steps to start cleaning and protecting that inner metal, get mudflaps, or something. If you have mouldings that cover it you probably don't need the mudflaps.

Yep, cut out the rust if you can, clean the inside as best you can, and seal it up so crap from the tire doesn't get in and make it worse.

Edit: This didn't fall apart driving down the road
