"pulsing" in power output

My 92 Bonne developed a problem on the way home tonight. Under load, the power seems to switch on and off, I guess you would call it a "miss". When under load, around 3-4K rpm, it seemed to do this with perfect rythum, every half second or so. Since it was only a half second without power, I couldn't really tell if its just missing a cylinder or if all power is going out, I couldn't tell. It didn't seem like much power loss.

No SES light, and I would have tried to pull the codes anyway, but I couldn't figure out how to! I looked under the dash but couldn't find a diagnostic plug. Does the 1992 have this?

Any ideas what it could be? When I got home I gave it power in the driveway with the brake on, but the problem did not come back. I wasn't running at 3-4K RPM of course, it was closer to 1-2K, so that might have something to do with it.

Any ideas? I'm guessing I'm just going to have to do plugs and wires first, and then go from there. Its probably been 30-40K since I last did that.

Update - well a few hours later I took it for a drive and could not reproduce the problem. It was around 100 degrees earlier, I suppose it could have something to do with the heat?

Check the resistance of your coils and do your tune up, plugs, wires, pcv valve TB and MAF cleaning and see what that does.

Thanks.

Any input on the diagnostic connector to get the codes? Does the '92 have one?
