Still Having PO341 Code Troubles 97 Bonneville SSE

Post by bonniecrow »

Hey all, I'm having a bit of a problem with my 97 SSE non-super charged. I've been having problems with a rough idle and constant misfiring. The CEL constantly flashes. I went through several things before I had a chance to get the code. In the past week, the plugs & wires, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, one bad fuel injector, fuel filter, ignition control module, mass airflow sensor, coil packs, and vacuum hoses have all been replaced or checked. I'm still having the same problems and the PO341 code for the cam position sensor. Any ideas?

Wow, sounds like a nasty problem. I heard one guy fixed his by replacing the IGM (ign control module).

Electronics can fail when hot or cold. If the CPS (crankshaft pos sensor) was not too expensive I might
try a new one. Also, the CEL constant flash: I'm not sure what that means. Missing input or something serious?

CEL flash: One guy's explanation:
"When the Check Engine Light flashes, it's because of a bad misfire in the engine.

from another post:
"P0341 is camshaft sensor, but in reading posts it seemed like that was seldom the issue, so we were reluctant to start chasing things. In the recent past had replaced coils, crank sensor, plugs, wires, etc...
With vehicle having 250k miles on the odometer, decided to relace the IGM. Ignition control module. Car started excellent and began to run better, even though we thought it was okay. Hasn't thrown a code now in over 3 weeks and 1,000 miles."

I'm no pro so,

good luck

Yeah, I'm getting Multiple Misfires when I check it with a code scanner as well. The CEL is constantly flashing because of the misfires. I was honestly hoping it was just tge ICM but I went and had it tested, they couldn't get it to fail. Thank you for the input though.

Could that be the crank position sensor? I had a no-start condition once that drove me nuts. The only thing that worked was using a hose to squirt behind the balancer. I then took the plug off, filled it up with dielectric grease, let it dry out, and it fired right up.

Might be worth a try. Cheap enough.

I've replaced the Crank Position Sensor. I'm guessing it could be the magnet for the cam sensor.
