Couple questions.

Post by nos4blood70 »

What are the symptoms of a bad steering rack?

What are the symptoms of bad front struts?

What are the symptoms of bad sway bar bushings? (not end links)

I have a front end rattle/clunk that I need to get rid of.

Thanks buddies.

When I had a bad rack, I was leaking fluid like a bastard. Causing the pump to whine. Other than that, A friend had an issue where his steering was very "stiff" and when he replaced the rack, the steering was fine.

Bad front struts, the car is very bouncy going over bumps. Had this problem a month or two ago. Every bump I hit i was bouncing up and down a bit. Also heard a groan/clunk when going over speed bumps.

Bad sway bar bushing sounds kinds like...a bar bouncing around. Hard to describe honestly, but it reminded me of the sound you get when you drop a hollow pipe. Again, had this issue and replaced them with energy suspension bushings(I advise u make a small plate to place between the bracket and subframe.) I heard the noises best when i was driving in a straight line and going over small bumps.

Also, bad control arm bushings will cause a clunk too(mine was at low speeds).

Thanks for the response. Looks like I need to do a bushing refresh on this car.

Honestly. I did my struts and control arms at the same time. Made it a little easier seeing as it was all apart. I redid all my sway bar bushings and end links with energy suspension. no complaints here.
