flowmaster vs Magnaflow

Post by Champ2014 »

I'm getting paid at the end of next week and the next thing I'm buying for my 95 SSEI I'd a F-body style performance cross-flow muffler. The magnaflow 12266 and the flowmaster 80 series are the exact same price. I've heard the Flowmaster on many 3.8 camaros and it just sounds amazing and makes it sound like a performance v8. I've heard the magnaflow once and couldn't really tell the difference but people say its more cleaner and throaty. Can some of you guys give me some of your opinions, thanks.

If you heard them both you would be best to judge the best sound that you are looking for.

thats one of those things were people are either a flowmaster person or a magnaflow person. Ive always had flowmasters on all my cars and think they are great. If I were you look around youtube, you will probably be able to find some clipos of each of the sounds.

I like my 80 series Flowmaster, but have not heard a Magnaflow. My Flowmaster is a bit rumbly at idle, growly when on the gas. Sounds "mean". No resonance in the cabin to speak of. Check out soundclips on YouTube, but remember that sound quality is often quite different in person.

renchjeep you have it on your bonne? I havnt been able to find any clips of it on a 3800 so I've been listening to em on the 3.8 camaros. I figured they were the same engine. Did you mount it yourself and if so how?

I did not mount it myself, had my exhaust guy do it. He had to put on a couple more hangers, IIRC. I bought a used Flowmaster for a Camaro, it runs sideways across the rear of the car, has a single inlet and 2 dumps, one on each end. Chrome 45 degree slash cut tips finish it off.

If you PM me your email, I will try to send a couple of pics.
