05 GXP hard shifting sometimes.....

My 2005 Pontiac Bonneville gxp, with 85,000 miles on it will occasionally shift hard in all gears. Once the car is restarted. its back to normal, and shifts great. Anyone have an idea of what the problem might be? Thanks....

Pressure control solenoid.

Unless it happens every time you drive it, just live with shutting it off and restarting. TO get to the solenoid is a metric ton of labor to removing front halfshafts, drop the cradle, transaxle, remove the side case to get to it, replace the solenoid, then reassemble everything...

Yikes. I take it there is no shift kit option for the 4t80?

None over the shelf.

But the task is pretty much the same on the 4T65E also. They're in the same location, inside the side cover, that requires dropping the cradle enough to open the case.

Yea mine has been doing that since about 90K.. has 118K on it now!! Once restarted it has went up to 3-4 months before it does it again and this car is now a daily driver. So Unless it gets worse im not going to worry about it..
