Supercharger Tick

Post by YoungBonne12 »

recently i've noticed a weird ticking noise coming from my supercharger on start ups when the engine is cold, but as soon as the engine warms up, its fine. it is not the noise the supercharger makes normally, it is an added noise on top of it. is it something to worry about? Step dad, the salvage car guy, just told me not to worry about it until it blows up :flame: but i'd rather not replace the Bonne just yet.

kinda hard to hear through the video, but i do believe that is the same kind of noise. almost a little knocking sounding but not nearly a rod knock. my guess is that that is the same

Sounds like a coupler. Remove the belt and turn the pulley quickly back and forth, if there's "slop" then it's bad. $40 and an hour and a half or so will fix it right up.

Yup, hence the video.... DO a search on replacement and you will find instructions.

Could try changing the oil? That made mine stop making a rattling noise. I can't hear the video, cuz I don't have speakers hooked up haha.

Just because it has that much left doesn't mean you have to wait that long. ;) Engine oil is supposed to be changed every 3k, but if you're driving it pretty heavily, it can be beneficial to change it sooner..
