Alternator whine
I've installed an aftermarket amp in my 2001 bonneville and came up with a pretty bad alternator whine. I've tried separating the RCAs and power wires, different grounding points, and ground loop isolators. I'm frankly running out of ideas. Has anyone installed an aftermarket amp and correctly diagnosed the whine issue? Any other ideas to try? Thanks for all the help.

Re: Alternator whine
When I had whine, I was using line output converters. My amp has speaker level inputs, so I tried those and the whine went away.

Re: Alternator whine
Yea that's where I probably should include the detail where I am using an aftermarket kenwood receiver and am running RCAs off the back of that to my amp... I know if I unplug the RCAs off the back of the amp that the whine does disappear. I am using the stock harness for the ground on my HU, so I may try running a ground cable from my HU to where I have my amp grounded...

Re: Alternator whine
The antenna... It was grounding out the HU, creating the ground loop.
