2000 Bonneville Tuneup

Post by BonnevilleSE2000 »

Hello everyone! I replaced the old ac-delco plugs with ngk tr55ix and the wires with Napa Belden Premium wires. The original fuel filter was also replaced but when the nuts were attempted to be loosened it sprung a gas leak. (due to rusted fuel lines) So they were replaced as well. After all that the Bonnie has a much stronger acceleration and smoother idle. Next I will clean my throttle body.... any tips?

:stupid:

Remove the MAF, clean that with MAF Cleaner, and set it aside, then clean the TB. Use TB cleaner on the rest, making sure you get into the IAC port and get all the carbon out. You'll likely want to replace the gasket as well.
Bye Bye:

Good ideas all. The screen has a large type snap ring. If needed, you can remove the ring and take the screen out. The last one I had was so nasty there was no choice, but to remove it, Be careful with it it is fragile.

Also, do not compress the IAC when cleaning it and make sure that the IAC seat is clean, you will see what I mean when you take it out and look in the hole.
