96 Bonne - may just have a soul...

My 96 bonne has had many problems since I was given it last Nov (2012). I've had to put about 3,000 into it just to get to work and back (78 miles every day).

Anyway, I've been ready to redecorate the shell with a sledge hammer a couple of times but last Tues was
the time I came close and then I took an about face and realized that car may have just saved me and itself
from almost certain major trouble.

My son and I went to the show at a mall (chicago Ridge, SW of Chicago). got out at 6:30 and the car wouldn't start.
It cranked, just wouldn't kick in (This was when It was a good thing I didn't have a sledge hammer handy).

It felt like a fuel problem (I had already replaced the fuel pump and both in/out fuel lines to the tank) so I looked
under the car and there was a puddle of gas. Well, I had towing (with this car that is more necessary than gas) So, anway, I had it fixed. It was the fuel pressure regulator.
Then it hit me, if I hadn't gone to the show and let that car cool for 3 hrs, this thing would have blown while I was going to work the next day on the expressway going 65-70 MPH and on a hot engine. That would surely have started a fire and I would have lucky to just get myself out and watch it burn. I don't really believe that cars have a soul but you never know, this thing would have been junked if I hadn't fixed it up, maybe it was saying thank you.
