Hi all.
01 SSEi.....Several times in the past few weeks my DIC alarmed upon starting the car and said check security system..... I reset it.....turned off the ignition and restarted.....security light does not reilluminate.....
Today I went out hit the key fob.....no 'un-locky'.....so I used the key to enter. Went to unlock the other doors with and hit the unlock button on the driver door.....nothing...not even a sound.... Then hit the button again to lock and it locks all doors..... but still won't unlock any of the doors.... I reach over....and try the driver door....it works perfectly normally unlocks and locks all doors just fine..... Key fob still zilch...won't lock, unlock, pop trunk, or blow horn.....
Crank the car....no security light.... Car automatically unlocks the locks when I shift to park just like always.....
Second key fob does the same.....zilch....
I think I have gremlins.....AGAIN with the electrical system.....any thoughts?

If you live in a colder climate, the security system warning is a fairly common one during the colder weather.
Try re-syncing the key fob by standing near the vehicle and hold down both the lock and unlock buttons for at least 7 seconds. The locks should cycle.

Thanks for the response....and interesting that you say that.....every time the security system light came on it was below 15 degrees......today it was only 28....but the security light never came on today.....Archon wrote:If you live in a colder climate, the security system warning is a fairly common one during the colder weather.
Just tried the re-synch......didn't do a thing....no indication that I even pressed a button.....not a 'bleep'....not a light.....no lock cycling....nothing....Archon wrote:Try re-syncing the key fob by standing near the vehicle and hold down both the lock and unlock buttons for at least 7 seconds. Re: Security--door locks
Don't think so.....in cold weather (it was 6 Farenheit) this week....the battery (replaced last year) spun the engine over like a champ.....didn't struggle at all....It like there is no battery in the key fob.....or the car isn't receiving the signal from it.... If it weren't for the driver side door unlock switch being inop in the unlock operation only I would think it was the module (whichever one that is) that receives the signal from the fob..... Actually, after thinking about it, at first the fob continued to operate the lock...but not the unlock. Then later in the day....nothing worked with the fob....spoiledred94 wrote:Bad battery? Maybe it had nothing to do with the security...as the security could have just been reacting to the cold as mentioned in an earlier post above.... This might be a seperate issue all together.....coincidence....that both picked the same week to act up......
Re: Security--door locks
Check the batteries in fobs and the keyfobs. I had to fix the soldier joints on both of my keyfobs. The metal part that holds the battery that is. Had to fix both of my friends too on his G6 lot newer car but remote very similar. Same exact problem. The three points they are soildered at tend to crack easily. I had one of mine on one of the through holes break completely. With battery holder off took a eraser to center battery pad and cleaned it up. Then soldiered the metal holder back on. Inserted a new battery and no problems since. One that I fixed only had the center of the three not connected. It looked as though it was but looking closer and a light pull on it revealed a crack in the soldier joint.

Check at the driver's door module, connection 2, pin 7 while depressing the unlcck button and see if it shows 12 volts.
