Caring for Gravenge

Post by myfirstbonnie »

Today we spent a couple hours of Father Daughter time doing some work on Gravenge. I showed Kathy how to clean the under side to watch for leaks. Right now it looks like it needs gaskets for the valve covers and the 2 pans. We then put dielectric grease in all the connectors and cleaned the top side.

The next item was spark plugs. I showed her how to change them, find the gap on the sticker under the hood and how to set it. I made her do the work, I just guided her.

Lastly, we tackled the lamp monitor. Found that the corner lamp on front right was missing the socket and all. We then realized this was chopped off during the accident. The rear was alarming for the small 194 bulbs on each corner. Replaced the bad bulbs and missing socket and no more lamp monitor alarms.

We then got a low coolant indicator. Water got into the connector and we forgot it when doing the dielectric grease. Dried and greased and good to go.

After looking at the fender, It could have used another coat or two of paint, but it looks good and she is happy it is no longer grey.

I've watched this car the entire time I've been on this club, glad to see it in such good hands! I'm glad she's coming along nicely!

While she was doing the plugs, I had to clean the wheels. I could not stand all the brake dust on them. She just started a new job (her first one ever) and we are planning on doing the brakes when she gets paid.

The other thing I need to look at is a broken air line for the ELC. I have it disconnected for now and can see the broken line on the right side.

It's awesome that she's learning how to do all that. Will come in handy in the future!
The car looks awesome too. Like nothing ever happened.

First pic makes my knees cringe.

You will know you have arrived, when she opens the garage door for some wrenching and you join her because you want to, not because youre worried she will hurt herself or the car. WTG!
