trans not shifting

Post by allanb »

i have a 96 se and my trans doesnt shift out of first gear til about 45mph and 2nd about 60. i just rebuilt trans. baisically the ecm is only changing to the next gear to prevent the engine from over reving. before the rebuild it had a hard time shifting from 1st to 2nd under heavy acceleration and 3rd gear was shot. any help or suggestions would be great.

Might be a silly question, but have you checked the tps with a scan tool?

How is the shift quality? Any slipping? 4th gear & TCC?

changed tps and drove it, shifted somewhat ok out of 1st gear until it warmed up then went back to staying in 1st til it hit rev limiter. all other gears seem to shift up and down fine.

did some elecrical testing and ecm is cuting off the ground to solenoid "a" to shift into 2nd gear but it didnt shift. i ohmed both a and b solenoids and they were both 23ohms. 20-30 is good. i fed power to both and could hear both clicking. is it possible for a solenoid to be stuck shut or am i going to have to dig back into it deeper?
