I know, but I planned on this being just a test to see how well it goes. I'll wait to see how well this holds up and then I'm gonna redo it without the gloss. I used 4 cans of black and three cans of gloss, about $44 from dipyourcar.com. I hoped the gloss would make them really shiny, but it's kinda cloudy in direct sunlight, so I'll redo them later.

Doing this to wheels with a lot of spokes isn't easy. It's harder to cover all the small areas on the sides of the spokes, so you kinda just end up spraying over everything without focusing on one area. This leads to the spray sticking to itself in the corners and creating strings of plastidip, sort of like cobwebs in your house. The spray doesn't dry as smoothly on the sides of the spokes, so they end up more textured than the front face of each spoke. And since the dip shrinks as it dries, it doesn't lay well on top of wheel weights.

Overall, it looks good. If you get real close you can see the imperfections. But it's cheap, requires little to no prep work, and it isn't permanent. I like it.

It just makes it look different. You don't see many cars with black rims so it immediately catches your attention. And they look great while moving.

My mom thinks it looks ghetto and my brother thinks it looks like my hubcaps fell off. Everyone thinks the chrome looked better. I'm just not impressed by chrome rims. Maybe its because every new Malibu in town is riding on shiny chrome wheels and the tough guys who think they're "balla" cause they put 20" chrome wheels on their otherwise unmodified Hondas. They can be the finishing touch on a nice ride but they don't make the car, IMHO.

I had thought of painting them silver with a 'Pontiac' script in black, I like the black and silver theme. Maybe that would be too much.

Ive alway thought 20 spokes were the best looking wheel that came on these cars. Also always thought theyd look sweet black metallic.

Someone care to elaborate on this reversability I always hear about?

PlastiDip will just peal off, you gotta start rubbing on it like at an exposed edge. If it's thick enough, like 4 coats or more it'll come off in mostly one piece. I sprayed the front badge too thick the first time so it was really bumpy. I waited till it dried, pealed it off and redid it.
