A/C PROBLEM

Im getting a whining noise when i turning on my a/c and the air isnt that cold i cranked it all the way down to 60 but feels bout 68 to 70 what signs could this mean ?????

Does it still make that sound when you just use the floor heat or fresh air vent? Sounds like either your A/C compressor clutch (belt is slipping/squealing?), or possibly too much refrigerant? (Did you add Freon to the system recently?)

I slightly overcharged the lukewarm A/C in my Cutlass years ago (I didn't use a pressure gauge, and thought adding two full cans was more better than one), and it made a kind of screeching, howling noise from the compressor. I turned it off immediately. It worked normally after I bled off some of the excess Freon. (Luckily the EPA didn't notice the temporary black hole in the atmosphere above my house afterward...)

yeah i did add some freon bout a month ago but it was doing then too but not as loud.

You may have added too much Freon. You can buy a gauge with a fitting from the same place you purchased your Freon, to check what the LOW pressure side currently reads.

Here's a chart I found in 'Techinfo' for 1994-95 Bonneville A/C specs. I think it'll be close enough for you to figure out if your system is overcharged. (I can't recommend using the filler hose/valve to bleed off excess Freon from your system, as it's illegal (and unsafe) to intentionally put that stuff into the atmosphere...) [-X :

Be careful; you REALLY don't want to breathe any of that stuff, nor get it in your eyes, or on your skin. Probably better to take it to an A/C shop, and let them recover the extra refrigerant safely (and legally)....

I HOPE THAT IS WHAT IT BUT WHEN I ADDED THE FREON THE GAUGE I USED SAID IT WAS LOW SO THATS WHY I ADDED IT

Did you use a full gauge set?

If you are only looking at the low side, you are only getting half the story. There are conditions in which the system could be overpressuring the high side, and running low on the low side. You add more freon, think it is low, and you have just created an even bigger problem.

Sorry, but I'm already at the edge of my shred of knowledge regarding A/C systems at this point. (I'm no refrigeration tech; I don't even play one on TV.) I only related my limited experience to help point you towards a potentially similar solution, since the circumstances sounded alike. As they say, "your mileage may vary..."

I'm sure 'the Google' would reward you with much more information and insight if you choose to do an internet search on this subject. (It still amazes me what you can learn from the all-knowing 'interwebs'...)

So i went of pop that metal rod off from my air blend door and now when i push it all the way to the cold side it blows out really hot air so now its blazing in my car and the heat is only getting hotter...... this is really pissing me off there has to be a better way to fix this....... my compressor is kicking on ive got condensation dripping off the low line it really cold so what could it be guys

I have the same problems with my GF's VW bug 01' it was way overcharged when I checked it, bled the system down to the low mark on the gauge type R-134 refrigerent can, filled to proper messurement and still no cold air. I assume compressor is failed due to overcharged for so long....
