New, Used Transmission

I have searched on here and cannot seem to actually find my answer. When looking for a used transmission for my 99 SLE, what all do I have to look for? I know the final drive ratio. But what else? Also will any series II 4t65e work with the right final drive ratio?If not what models/ years?

See if your transmission still has the tag on it. It will be located on the back towards the right drive axle.
