Got a new cat! Car runs great!

Post by Ludichris »

Got a new cat installed this morning. Unfortunately, no, this is not a hi-flow cat or a Magnaflow or anything, just your standard universal cat. BUT - I can tell you that my old one was in fact clogged, and my car FINALLY feels NORMAL and is performing like it should. Much smoother shifting, smoother idle, smoother acceleration - finally!!!! Yay!!!!

Also, somebody tell me if there's any correlation between too much back pressure from a clogged cat, and oil pressure being a little high as a result, because I swear my oil pressure dropped down closer to the 40 PSI mark at idle (which is where I thought it was supposed to be in the first place). I swear it did.

Anyhow, very happy, good day so far. I took it out on the highway and tried her out - MUCH, MUCH better. Also the average MPG on my Scan Gauge II showed that it bumped up a couple MPG too! SWEET! I wish I could have popped for a high flow, but I still have wheel bearings to do......

Good to hear Chris!! I had a suspicion that was your problem. Your mileage is DEFINITELY going to increase from what it was.

Thanks Ed! It feels good to finally feel the engine wake up....several hundred later, but worth it. Tomorrow after I get the wheel bearings done, I should hopefully be done for awhile. Feels good. I have a nice car. :beerchug:
