Transmission shudders shifting out of Park

Post by dakotapalm »

I searched and didn't see this, so forgive me if it has been answered already. My 1994 is running fairly well, but when I shift it out of Park when the engine is cold, the car shudders. Going back into Park is fine, and going out of Park after I have been driving and it is warmed up, it shudders slightly, but much less. I checked the ATF level, and it is in the proper range (although checking that seems like an inexact science)...
Ideas for what this might be? Thanks for the help.

Start by checking the front Trans Mount.....

If thats fine then I would check the plugs and wires... If thats fine as well... The you could have a bad forward apply band or bad forward clutches... Hard to say..

When was the last time the fluid and filter were changed?

THanks, I will start with the mount. It has been a while for the filter- a couple years; but unfortunately, I need to get the radiator swapped out first. It's starting to leak badly.
