2003 SE Grand Prix Cluster?

Post by Bvill_GXP »

My G/F Fuel Gauge reads wrong all of the time!! She could fill up and drive 10 miles to work and the gauge will drop to E and the low fuel light/chime comes on!! Funny thing is before it got this bad it would just drop alittle and by the time she got 170 miles it would be at E so she was thinking someone was taking the fuel out of her car at night lol.... But anyway, my question is this the car has 135k miles on it and the one at my local LKQ (junk yard) has 103k miles. Do i need to get it re programed to the current mileage or will it roll over by itself? If i need to get it re programed is that a dealer only thing and about how much will it cost? ( guess i could call them huh).. Thanks in advance!!!

I guess it could be the cluster, but I think it's much more common for the sending unit in the tank to fail.

I'm pretty sure the mileage on the 00+ is stored in the cluster. There is a piece (board or chip maybe) that you can switch and the mileage will be correct. Search around, I don't know which piece it is.

Edit: here you go - last post.
