Looking to buy a 2000 bonneville sle white

Post by glenn304bonne97 »

I went to look at it today it has 100,000 miles on it inside looks good the outside looks good. But when i went and started it up started up and i smoke was coming from the front part of the motor so i think it needs value cover gasket. They are asking $4000 for it is that a good deal. Please give some good feedback and what i should look for

I would agree that the valve cover gaskets need to be replaced as well. This is a pretty common problem and the oil will get burned off, resulting in the smoke.

Look to see if the LIM have been replaced. You can usually tell by looking between the LIM and the block to see if theres an Aluminum framed gasket there. Right around 100,000 miles, the dexcool eats away at the original gaskets and causes leaks.

Look over this link to check other common issues:

Book the car out with your zip code. Markets vary. We can't tell you what the car is worth. The link above will.

I'm not sure why you posted this in the mechanical section for the previous generation, this isn't a 92-99, and it's not a mechanical problem. I'll move your topic to General Chat for you.

I find Kelly Blue Book prices to be a bit on the high side, skewed to benefit sellers. I like Edmunds.com better; their prices seem to be more accurate.
