2001 SSEi driver personalization & new keyless/remote start

Going over some of the updates/upgrades to the new ride, I want to add remote start. BUT...I also want to keep driver personalization (tied to remote keyless fobs). Not being familiar with these new models, does anyone here have their cars modded like this? What had to be done in order to tie a particular keyless fob (for the new system, not the factory one) to the driver personalization?

My Viper 5701V Remote start and alarm retains the personalization settings, I'd give Viper a call or search their website to see if they have one that is a remote start unit only that will for sure retain these settings. I remember when the guy at Best Buy installed it, he had to run a wire from the Viper brain to the DDM (IIRC) for some reason, also had something to do with keeping the factory alarm from sounding at the same time as the Viper, but I think that is what allowed me to keep personalization settings as well, since I couldn't control the horn sounding with the lock/unlock before he ran that wire. I'd check with the manufacturer first to be sure on that.

The only problem I see with a remote start only module, is that the range is limited to the factory fobs. Not a big issue if the range is good, but no point if the range is only 20 feet.

Keep in mind mine has security also, but my range is amazing, I've remote started/lock or unlocked it from the middle of my college campus, and I park on the outside edge of the lot. I'd say Viper's estimated 2k' range for it is about right. No clue about just the remote starters though.

I have an Auto Page system in my TL and it keeps the personalization...the second remote even activates the second memory settings. That being said, I know the shop who did it for the previous owner and when I asked them about it, they said that the integration was not seemless.

As for range, my desk is about 300yds from my parking spot and every day about 4:50, I press that magical warm my car up button and only have issues if the fob battery is dieing. I have also been able to start the car from one end of the largest mall in the state to the other.
