What tires do members have on their Bonneville
I am interested in finding out what tires other members use for their Bonneville?
Since 2007, I have been using Michelin Hydroedge tires. For spring, summer and fall, they work very well. As for snow, they worked out ok. Due to taking the train into town, I did not have to drive to work and I only have 32000 miles on the HydroEdge tires. I am curious what all-season tires options are out there.
Possible options are: Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred/ Michelin HydroEdge / Nokian WRG2 / Continental ProContact.
Thanks,

Avoid the Goodyears, they were my last set and they were terrible.

Summer: Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500, 235/50/18: Great straight-line traction, good treadwear characteristics, and quiet. Sidewall squirm and turn-in response could be a bit better, being that it is a dedicated summer tire. Value for money is hard to beat.
Winter: Hankook W409 Winter i*Pike, 215/60/17: Go-anywhere snow and winter performance, and not as loud as I was expecting. Being a 215 and a dedicated winter tire, dry handling and traction sucks as it's supposed to
Also a great value for money.

Re: What tires do members have on their Bonneville
I had Cooper Lifeliner Classic II on my car before. They were awesome.
They were a 60k miles tire and had 43k on them and had about half tread life still on them.
I believe these are now the Copper CS4's.....which have an 80k mile warranty now.
Now, I have a set of Hankook Optima H727's. Although, they are on a set of 17" Grand Prix rims. Size 225/55/17 These are absolutely amazing. I love them. GREAT traction in the wet and (more sticky?) in the dry/warm. They don't squeal as easily from take off than the other ones do. These are also 100k miles tires. They ride very nice with very little if any noticeable road noise.

Re: What tires do members have on their Bonneville
I put Michelin Primacy MXV4s on mine ~12k ago, they ride nice, grip well and are nice and quiet. They also fared me very well in last years blizzard. I would most likely buy these again. But then again tires do have a little bit to do with personal preference

Re: What tires do members have on their Bonneville
My SLE had a set of Cooper CS4s when I bought it. Really good all-season tires, quiet on the road with exceptional grip. So exceptional, in fact, that I have yet to break them loose in the ~3 months I've had the car. Maybe I'm just a tame driver
They say "COOPER" really big and have a cool sidewall design. Looks great all shined up

Re: What tires do members have on their Bonneville
The Primacy's on Will's (SSEiMan01) are amazing. I can vouch for that. However, I do not know their price.
I run BFGoodrich Advantage T/A's. They were inexpensive and they are amazingly quiet. I used to think they weren't grippy until I got my ABS and Traction Control back. (Being a teenager might also have something to do with their grip.
) They are not showing much wear after 10000 miles and countless burnouts and skids. From the two times they saw snow, I can say that they handle it pretty good.

Just bought a set of BFGoodrich Advantage T/A's and I love them. They are just a great all around tire, IMHO.

I had Yokohama Avid Touring-S on mine and really liked them, unfortunately the car was totaled. They were very good in the snow for the price, but I don't think they make that exact model any more but similar ones do exist.

Re: What tires do members have on their Bonneville
I've heard lots of good things about BFG, I have the standby Radial T/A on my 85 and 66, RWLs FTW!
Back to topic...The primacy's weren't that cheap, with road hazard, install, lifetime rotations, blah blah blah blah blah, came to about $800. I know for a fact they can be had cheaper online via Tirerack, I was just lazy, lol
And I've learned also that you won't have issues if you go with the good rubbers.
Oh come on, you knew SOMEONE was gunna say it...

I've got Kuhmo something, 235/55/17 on mine. I do think I'll go with something that fills up the fender wells a little better though. Any suggestions?

Re: What tires do members have on their Bonneville
I currently have the Yokohama Avid ENVigor on my 03. They're a great 3 season tire, but aren't spectacular in snow. They're not bad, and I don't do much driving in snow w/ it anyways, but they're probably more of a performance tire than you might want.

Having a taller sidewall will affect your overall handling of the car. That size is the stock size.RYODER wrote:I've got Kuhmo something, 235/55/17 on mine. I do think I'll go with something that fills up the fender wells a little better though. Any suggestions?

Anything taller is going to affect your speedometer too.

I have Bridgestone Potenza RE960 all seasons on stock dimensions (16" wheels). I've loved them so far but they still kinda suck in the winter. The next time I go tire shopping I'm going to consider buying another set of rims and get proper winter and summer tires.

Continental TouringContact AS. Were on the car when I bought it. No complaints after 11 months of daily (mostly gentle) driving on them.

Re: What tires do members have on their Bonneville
Living in the Southeast, where winters are mild, there's not much need to run different tires in the summer and winter. A good all-season radial is quite sufficient for year-round use in most standard applications.
My Bonne had a fairly new looking set of Cooper Lifeliners on it when I got it little over a year ago. They've done quite well in both wet and dry road conditions, as well as the little bit of frozen stuff we got last winter here in the pines of Carolina. I have no idea how many total miles are on those tires, but I've put about 12,000 miles on them since I've had the car and they're still doing great.
My '97 Olds LSS that I had a few years ago came with a practically brand new set of Kelly Navigator Gold tires on it. that were excellent. I put about 50,000 miles on them in the three years I had the car and they proved to be an excellent all-season radial.
The Goodyear Eagle GS radials I had on my '94 Olds LSS were less satisfactory in frozen winter conditions, but they did last a good 10,000 miles beyond their 45,000 mile rating. I replaced them with a set of Bridgestone Insignias, which provided much better handling, especially in winter conditions.

Toyo Proxie T1-R 245-55-16 Summer only
No name brand 225 60 16 winter only, work awesome.
Toyo's perform quite well, even if the temp is just below freezing. If there is a bit or snow or ice on the ground, shes screwed.
