dimming lights...
So I have 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch P1s wired up to a 1000W Kenwood amp. I have each sub ran into it's own channel. I could be wrong, but an investigation of my amp's owner's manual, I should only be putting out like 300w total the way I have it wired up... sounds crazy low, but these subs BANG! Anyway, shortly after I put this system in the EB, I melted down a battery. Got a new one, and decided to install a cap, hoping to extend the life of my battery, alternator, etc... Cap is just a cheapo cap, 2 farad, don't remember the claimed wattage, but seemed plenty sufficient for my use. Slow charged it upon installation just like the directions said... When the truck is running and the system is banging, the voltage on the cap holds pretty steady at about 13V. Alt guage on the dash holds pretty steady about where it should, might drop a little, but barely noticeable... but all of my lights still dim really bad... why could this be?

Have you inspected all your ground wires, especially the main from the engine to the battery and any that ground your audio setup.
Bye Bye:

I checked all the grounds to the audio set up when I installed the cap, but I'll have to check the one to the battery...

Re: dimming lights...
if its possible try to run your system at 2ohms instead of 4. At 2ohm your amp has to work less to produce more power, so less power will be drawn from your battery.
I'm running 900 rms at 2ohm and my battery indicator on the DIC never goes below 14.5, even when turned up, and I am not using a cap.

Re: dimming lights...
My Bonne would dim when I put in my stereo, running maybe 300 watts rms. I upgraded the wire between the alternator and battery, wire between the battery and the distribution point on the firewall, and the ground to the negative battery post, and the dimming went away.

Re: dimming lights...
I'll have to check all those out. Truck is 12 years old so I'm not surprised there's some dimming, but I want to address it...
