Car won't start "unknown driver" message
Car's been running great. No issues. Yesterday, it acted like the battery was going dead. Turned the key "CLICK" That's all. Tried to jum it off, nothing. Intermittent "unknown driver" error message. Sometimes when I turn the key the radio and gauges work, other times no gauges, display or radio. When gauges and radio are working, I turn the key to crank and nothing. No click. Nothing.
Battgery is fully charged. Something is really messed up here.

Check battery cables for corrosion and tightness.

Charged the battery, connections are tight and clean.

If the symptom was simply the 'click', then it sounds like the starter.
But because of the other symptoms that you've described, I agree with RJolly87, it sounds like the battery connections (loose connections or corrosion on the cable ends), or maybe a bad connection elsewhere.
If the Security light doesn't turn off then that would indicate a problem with the security system, but that's not the cause of the problem on your car because a security system problem wouldn't cause the intermittent problems that you've described.

freind of mine had a similar situation at his shop on a cadillac. ended up
being a broken wire going into one of the doors.somehow screws up the
info going to the computer data stream and puts it into a no start mode.
just a thought. way out in left field but its worth a look

Re: Car won't start "unknown driver" message
Sorry to bother all you folks with this. I just replaced the battery. Can't remember ever having a battery just die with no warning at all. Strange! By the way, don't ever buy a battery from O'Reilley Auto Parts. Warranty is not transferable and if you have a 84 month battery that lasts 3 years and go to trade it out and use your warranty, the new battery - even though it's also a 84 month battery - will only have a 4 year warranty. That's right! The warranty on the new battery starts when you purchased the original battery! So, basically, I've paid one and a half times the cost of the battery to have a 7 year battery! How can they do this????? Wal Mart battery is the way to go. Swap it out - no questions asked. Good prices, and I've never had a problem with their batteries.

Yeah, as I said, bad battery. Replaced the battery and everything was fine. Never had a battery just stop working. Battery had a short.
