Battery Issue- 95 Series 1

Post by tripscarcare95 »

Hello Everyone

I am having an issue with my battery keeping charged. I had to jump start the car after it was parked in the garage. I did the old vehicle to vehicle jump start and the ol bonny fired right up. i drove the car for a few hours and stopped here and there and all was well. i parked the car again and it would not start again.

i pulled out the battery and took it to a local auto store to have the battery load tested. The battery is perfect.

Now were to begin

Bad ground
Alternator is original, but I did the magnetic wrench to it trick and the wrench stuck to the back side

Any thoughts?

Thanks

What Voltage and Amps did the battery test at as compared to the Batteries stated Amps?

And is the alternator putting out the power it should be?

I had the same problem, and it was the grounding. The guy I bought the car from had replaced the engine with one from a wreck. (Not sure what happened to the factory engine, but it's gone.)

Anyhow, after about 14-16 months I couldn't charge the battery. New alternator later it still didn't charge, and I found the ground lug rusty and not so tight. 3 minutes later it was fixed and has worked fine ever since.

YMMV. I'm no auto expert.
