Power windows

Post by BM3MW »

Hey guys i drive a 1994 ssei bon. well the other night i pulled my window down and it would not go back up. i check other windows to see if they worked and none of them move, so its not the window motor. i looked around for fuses, but all i find is a silver ciruit breaker. How do you know if thats gone bad or not? Also after i left the car for a while and came back to check the window again, i turned the car to the on position and sure enough the window went back up. So the next day i pulled the window down again and now it wont go back up.. anyone know whats going on here? what should i replace? :btruestory:

what is pictured is good. bad will be all corroded/wet/burnt/etc. as in "not good". your description points to this problem area.

Okay i called GM delarship and they said they cant find that part anymore.. they told me to take the wires out and just sauter all the wires going to that bus connetor together and that it would do the same job. Is this safe or what do u guys think.. Even better anyone know where i can find the replacement part?

Junkyard is probably the only place. Soldering all the grounds together will work also. It was done this way from the factory to make it easier to isolate circuits for troubleshooting, although I doubt any actual troubleshooting was done from this spot. The main goal is to make sure all the wires have adequate insulation/isolation, are dry, and the grounds are solid/functional. We just witnessed a problem with this area that caused weird fog and interior light problems.

So today i had a little time to mess around with these connectors and what i found out is that the seem to be wet/moist. no rust or anything really. It looked pretty good but both sides were kindof wet. Have not had time to go to junk yard to check out some there. Do you think if i put a blow dryer to it and clean them up a bit it will work normal again? Also i tried to remove the connector and but could not get the wires out. i took the blue and metallic peace off but the wires still would not move. should i force it? Thanks i know this is kindof a long post. thanks again.

How is wet going to make a ground worse? By making it a better ground? These are NOT power wires. There's no reason to mess with it further if there's no corrosion on any of the contacts or the shorting bar. Do not force anything.

After that, if the problem comes back, start looking at the drivers master window switch panel.
