Re: Gm 3800 tranny question
you have a 1996 with a 4T60E so no... Its has to be specific... And you have to be very careful as to which one you pick...
Do you have an FW2 ? and do you have WA2 Listed? This is important to know..

Re: Gm 3800 tranny question
So you saying it will not fit at all? i was told that it would as longs as i get the wire harness off the donor car. I was told a grand prix engine would not fit my bonneville but hey it bolted right in their with a few adjustments..

You do NOT have a 4T65E to being with. You have a totally different (and better) animal under the engine. Unless you have a tuner and factory service manuals for your car and the donor car, forget it. It's a huge undertaking.

Re: Gm 3800 tranny question
So what? The Block is 100% Identical to 96... The Block never changed from 1995 to the end of production... The Transmissions did change... Your 96 PCM will not run a 97+ 4T65E

Re: Gm 3800 tranny question
I know one thing you two gentleman better quit getting smart with me and *shoot* before i find yall and shove 3 transmission up your ass! Im just asking curious questions about it because im hearing different answers from different people. Some say hell you it would just get the wire harness from the donor car because gm cars all basically the same and other say oh no it will not work. Just like folks on here told me a 3800 engine from a w body will no bolt correctly on a h body. I showed their asses, it completely work with minor swappings. Like i said previously i just want opinions not attitudes!!

Re: Gm 3800 tranny question
The two trannys look pretty similar, and they share most, if not all bolt patterns. However, they are controlled very differently. The 4T60 is controlled by engine vacuum and the 4T65 is controlled by solenoids, wires and a computer. Long story short, it would bolt up, but you would have to do some very serious re-wirring! Then there's the drive ratio aspect of it too.
Quote from McGrubber: "There's like a million wires in here! I'm more of a three wire kind of guy"
You can easily identify the two. The 65 has a round electrical connector at the top of the bell housing. The 60 has a vacuum modulator on the side of the bell housing.

Re: Gm 3800 tranny question
Santonio, if you read our replies above, we already explained the transmissions are quite different and incompatible. A W-body will not 'bolt up'. The term 'bolt up' means out of the crate and into the bay, so no, you didn't show anyone their asses. You need to learn the terminology.
