99' Regal GS Headlights Don't Work

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

99' Regal GS Headlights Don't Work

Post by Slayer636 »

So, this problem has been going on quite a while, but now has gotten worse.

1. At first it started off with my DRLs not coming on automatically at dusk, and my amber's don't turn on when the car starts either.
I can manually turn my amber's with the pull knob on the top left of my dash, but the headlights don't turn on. One click of my turn stalk and lights turn on. A second click to turn on my brights....they flash on, but as I release the stalk they turn off.

At that point I checked all my fuses and such, no problems. I continued to run it like this as I could still manually have headlights, no brights, and didn't have the time or money to do much else.

2. Now I can still turn on my ambers, but even when I click the turn stalk, nothing. The brights flash, but as soon as I let go of the stalk they turn back off.
My fogs work fine, as they are on their own switch. So after looking on the internet and regalgs.org, I am leaning toward replacing the turn stalk, but that's quite a pricey guess.

Anybody have their own ideas, or possibly same problem and fix?
Or maybe even a turn stalk that I could buy from you on the cheap and replace myself?
I am open to suggestions.

Send me an email address via PM if you want a wiring diagram. IIRC the body control module switches on the headlights. If so then you should be able to check the signal from the stalk at the BCM.

Diagram sent. Looks like the wires on the Regal actually go to a 'Daytime Running Lamps Control Module'.

Well for others looking into this problem. I tested my headlight switch and it tested fine. Then I tested my Multi-function which tested bad. It had a cracked wire and burnt wire.
