Post by jtate300 »

They can be straight through without much effect on performance either way.

No back pressure is good on ANY engine. But opening up the pipe too much can kill flow.

Any of the usual suspects/camaro mufflers we run around here will do you good!

You may have an issue with the angle of the tip on that one. I suggest a muffler without tips, and select the tips you want for proper alignment during install. I also strongly suggest keeping your resonator (or putting a larger one in) at the same time with any straight-thru design. Popping and farting on throttle lift is a nasty sound you don't want.

ok so basically its not a good idea to use those then? even if i were to rework that y-pipe in the back before the mufflers....plus you say use a bigger resonator these things are gonna give me a ricer sound arent they?

Unless you go with the higher end Borla's or something any aftermarket muffler, flowmaster, magnaflow, whatever, WILL break up and sound weird at higher rpms, it's not a v8 and won't sound like one. It's the cold hard truth, so be very careful about what you do to your exhaust, if you're gonna do it for sound only you're probably not gonna be very happy without spending some decent $$.

OK.... so heres my plan....Will, as soon as i seen what you wrote i ran outside and looked at the mufflers and your right, id be better off getting the ones with out tips and putting them in there....plus the big round tips would look goofy since the exit for the bumper is rectangular.. so ill get my own tips and mufflers and mount them up that way.....thanks guys!
