Sea Foamin question

Post by In_da_boondocks »

After I run Sea Foam through my intake and fuel system, do I need to do anything special like change plugs?

It is known to foul spark plugs, so you may wish to plan on that. I usually just wait until plug change time, run the seafoam, hard, do full tuneup, and grin at the results

Another suggestion is to remove the O2 sensor while doing this

Yup I'd remove the 02 sensor and change plugs afterwards. It can clog up the catalytic converter as well if it's pretty dirty. All that gunk you're getting out of the engine has to go out the exhaust.

To expand on RJolly's idea, I do it before oil change time too, just because that extra measure of cleanliness can do nothing but help

...and if you do time it with an oil change, know that it can be added to your oil to clean that out as well right before a change.

*BTW - The best advice I can really give you, is read the bottle and follow the directions!

speaking of reading the bottle..... it says in big letters "OXYGEN SENSOR AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER SAFE"

with that in mind, has anyone proven that it is actually necessary to remove the o2? i want to do this to my car soon.

I left my o2 sensor in, car seems to be getting top MPG and running great, but quite a few people have told me it's not the best idea...and it's people where I'll trust their judgment cause I'm sure they did it many more times than I did and have a reason for saying that...

*Oh and, the other important piece of information in my specific example with my car is that my car barely smoked from it when I used it, due to me using AMSOIL, Top Tier fuels only, and running AMSOIL Performance Improver through the tank every few thousand miles.

I don't think concern is with the Seafoam itself, it's the possibility of all the junk that burns out getting in it and plugging it up
