It probably wouldn't be too hard to find a replacement gas door, even in the same color...And I'm with wake...thats nothing!

I know it's not much, but, the only reason that the fender well is like that, is because the seal is ripped away from the metal. dont ask, i don't know .

My old 99 SE was bad too. This was in 2005, mind you:

is this a common problem for 96-99???? I've seen so many of these cars like this. Even up the road, there's a '99 SE, same color, same interior, SAME RUST SPOT ON THE GAS DOOR. honestly the only way you could tell the difference between our 99 and theirs, is by opening the trunks and seeing who has blue lights. ;)

You should see the rust on my dad's 94 Bronco (with just 90,000 miles on it). I'll have to snap a pic of it next time I'm at home. The rust is so bad that the fenders are gone and the chrome bits fell off, and the rear door rusted out completely so he had to get a new one at the junkyard. The underneath is so bad that the thing might just split in two pieces driving down the road one day. To be fair though, the Bronco was used for snow plowing all of its life and also used to tow alot as well. It's a hard working truck and takes some serious abuse.

The rocker panels on my 99 LeSabre are splitting open from the rust. 2 years ago they were solid. They're rusting from the inside out, held together by the paint. Replacing/repairing them to have the car another few years is on the agenda for this summer. The theory is to rip out the old ones, flake off the loose rust, POR-15 the rust on the inner rocker panels, and attach the new rockers.

Next car I get is getting a rustproofing bath the second I get it into the driveway.

Why not spend the few bucks and get a new fuel door and make your car look 100x better?
