Got me a GXP!

Post by TenGHz »

Just finalized the deal today and got myself a GXP! I traded in my 2001 SE for this 2005. With the economy sucking (making car prices fall) and my car getting older, it was too much to resist any more. Anyways, after all was said and done with the dealer and my trade I got her (with a 5 year/100,000 extended powertrain warranty) for $10k. I thought that was a pretty good deal (am I wrong?). It has all options except for heated seats (car came from Florida, so go figure) and no CD changer. I had neither of these things in my old SE, so I won't necessarily miss them... It has just over 51k miles.

I do have to admit that I am still sad to see my 01 SE go. :sad5: But, as long as this one doesn't turn into a lemon I will move on...lol

One thing I do have to mention is: Holy torque steer! Oh well. :-#

Here's a couple pics that came off the dealer's website:

Otherwise, congrats on the new ride, lookin good.

Did you grab any of the mods off your 01 before trading?

Very Nice! Exactly the color I would want, that or charcoal.

Seems like a good deal to me, there going for 13-16k around here.

Andrew, how much woulda been a good price with my car, in your opinion? I admit I'm not the best haggler, especially compared to yourself (haha), but I thought it seemed fair. You might remember my fail haggling skillz from buying stuff from you... lol I did get an extended warranty out of them. But, for all I know they were giving them away for some promotion... lol

Well, I got my ScanGuage and GPS out, but all my stock parts (to replace the GXP stuff) were all sold off - most of it anyways. When I was taking my crap out of my old car today it was kinda hard to leave the GXP parts. Those were probably the only mods worth taking off that I didn't get back. That was probably a fail decision to sell the original stuff back in the day, but I honestly never thought I was going to trade off my '01 back then.

Stop making me miss my SE even more! :P

Looks like this was the original listing... http://sd.craigslist.org/ctd/1350271188.html (looks like they also have an 01 SSEi for $10k, what?!?!)

I guess I'm just basing the price off the 05 that I bought for 6500 and sold for 9500

Ya, the mileage is a little higher, but the price is drastically different. http://rmn.craigslist.org/ctd/1345004202.html

Yeah, that's the car. I just had found it on the dealer's page though. Same difference though.

That's a 2004, and a LOT more miles IMO. Although, still comparable - and a massive price difference. There's a red 2005 with 33k miles nearby for $16,700 if I remember the price right. There was also a 2004 blue one in Brookings (can't find the listing now) with no HUD or moon roof, and I think around 67k miles for $15,500. So, that's what I was basing things off of. Plus, I didn't figure I'd get $4k for my SE since kbb.com says $3k in excellent condition.

lol - yeah... I've notice SSEi's are listed for A LOT from dealers around here....

edit: You know, I hope that's a typo or something. They have a 2003 for the same price. lol

Beautiful car, man! I've thought about selling my Saab to get back into a Bonneville, especially a GXP.

I think that's a great price! GXPs are still ridiculously expensive around here.

Very nice. We paid $12,500 for my dad's GXP, which had 48k miles on it, last May. I think you could've gotten it for 9500 with your trade, but idk.

With the leather, you're going to wish you had the heated seats, though. That's the one thing I wish my car had, but with 150k, they probably wouldn't work anyways...

Have to consider he's getting trade in value on the '01, they have to leave margin to make money on it. Prob gave you $2000-2750?

However I hope you did it because you wanted the car, not anything to do with the economy...

Oh, yes, I know I don't have the cajones of a GP GXP. I like the look of the Bonneville version a lot more than the GP's though. A friend of mine owns a 2004 SE GP and it's still nice, but they're a bit meh looking to me (even with the GXP styling add ons). No offense to any current GP owners, of course!

Well, they gave me $4k for my car. That was how it was on paper, anyways. What I mean is I paid $14,450 (their asking price) but they gave me extra on my trade. So, technically I paid sticker price but got more on the trade. Plus got an extended 3rd party warranty.

I knew going into all this that if I was going to get best deal I would have had to go private party and bought one cheap, and then tried selling mine private as well. But, I'm too lazy... lol

I mentioned the economy simply because it seems dealers are feeling the pinch and lowering prices a bit. Of course I like the car, I've wanted a GXP since they came out!
