Today hasn't been good for my car - I got keyed :(

Post by TenGHz »

:sad5:

Today I went out to lunch with some friends and was getting out of my car to go in to eat, and saw a scratch on the front fender catch my eye. I got out and stepped back and found the scratch ran the entire length of my passenger front fender and restarts again on the rear driver's quarter about a foot long. Looks like some jack ass keyed my car. It would have had to have happened sometime between about 3am early this morning till about 1pm this afternoon. I would have noticed it when I left work last night at 2am, and didn't get home till close to 3am. It had been parked in my apartment's lot since I came home till I went to lunch... So it had to have happened here.

I don't have any enemies here or at all for that matter, nor do I know anyone that would do that. I didn't park too close to anyone when I came home last night. I'm a big guy, so I always know if I'm too close when I get out... lol

My guess is just a random a$$hat, or someone got dinged in the parking lot and saw black paint on their car and thought I did it... Who knows... I probably will never find out.

Then to add insult to injury I have what I think is a failing water pump (any advice on this issue would be appreciated!):

Just not a good day to be my car... :sad5:

Oh, and I got an estimate to fix it... $640. My deductible is $500. Do you guys think it'd be worth getting my insurance involved? I know I will be having a chat with my apartment manager...... :angry4:

Fix the water pump and leave the scratch alone. It will piss off whomever did it more that you don't apparantly care. If you fix it there's no guarantee he/she won't do it again. #-o

I'm a lot closer to you now... make it up to my house in White and we can do your waterpump in a few hours.

Thanks for the invite Andrew! I would certainly take you up on that. But, I do have a garage I can borrow now, and get dirty if I have to. Instead of having to deal with doing stuff in my apartment parking lot like before. It's a friend of mine's, sadly not my own, but better than nothing.

How far is White from Sioux Falls? Any clue?

Where I work they were having a problem with cars getting keyed (Luckily mine wasn't touched). One evening the person that was doing it did it and a police officer saw what he was doing. Got arrested for vandilism, after it was found out he admited to doing it all. He had to pay for all the cars he did plus the municipal fine of about $250 for each car he vandalized. I call that justice :)

No such luck for me so far though! I guess I will have to cough up the green.

Looks like I'm just going to take it to a place to get it touched up. Will only be $70 then. Not as good as getting it sanded and repainted, etc... but much better price. My car is getting too old to try and make it look perfect.. lol

Sorry to hear about your ride. I came out of work one day and found $2100 in damage after someone ran into it.

I know what you're going through. I was taking care of the interior landscaping at a posh athletic club and when I came out some BMW or Jag or Mercedes or something had backed out and smashed in my lower driver door. Still haven't fixed it. I really should have called my insurance agent. I still regret that. Maybe you could try increasing the sensitivity on your alarm.
