2000 ssei p/s issue

Post by kaotikd »

On my 2000 i have a problem with p/s.When it is cold it steers fine when it heats up it seems that it gets hard to steer at idle if i give it some gas it steers fine. Also when i take off the p/s cap it pops like it has pressure built up.

How is the fluid level?

Mine was weak and leaking a bit of fluid, I used Lucas power stop leak and all went back to normal.

My car at idle(in gear when hot) is hard to turn, the best I can figure is at that low of an rpm the pump does not work very well. Increase the rpm just 75 to 100 over what it is now and it should work like its suppose to. All I do is give it a little(very little) gas and it works just fine. Once you get use to it, you will do it automatically(I don't even think about it now, but I have over 189k on it).
