Hard shifts, with a twist

For anyone with the 4T65E and the intermittant, hard shift issue caused by solenoid>
Has anyone experianced a noise [stopped, in gear] that develops only after the hard shifts occur?

My 2000se has done this for some time> done the Sfoam/Lucas fix with no benifit

Noise is a metal/squeek/cage rattle, that iminates from the oilpan/ converter area and as you roll forward in light throttle, noise relates to vehicle speed>>Axles/hubs/ belt-access have been eliminated

Strange thing is, . I can drive for a while and not experiance any hard shifts and have no noise> one or two Hshifts and its back, shut the car off for a 10-15 mins and its gone
Guessing converter or pump, but strange it comes and goes

Others?

Others may chime in, but the only noise that I recall being reported is whining.

I too have the shifting problem. but without the noice. & yes, the problems starts after the transmision gets warm, in my case when Ive been on a traffic jam for a long time it gets the worst.

My hard shifts never included the after-rattle you mentioned. I hardly ever get the hard shifts since adding the cooler 180 stat.

However, I am now getting a rattling sound similar to what you described but I am sure that I need a new cat coverter. The rattle is most evident at a stop in gear and when initial accelerating.

You may have two separate problems.

Thanks
I've had mine up in the air in gear and noise is from the oilpan/trans area
as it rolls forward, you can hear the squeek, squeek, squeek from that area until it reaches a higher rpm then goes away
:sad5:

I too had the whine noise with my 2000 SSEi with the very hard shifts after the tranny warmed up.
I installed the Thrasher shift kit (medium setting) and have driven a week now (drove in Chicago traffic yesterday) and the problem went away. I would highly recommend for anyone with the hard shift problem. I've invested about 125 dollars vs the 600-700 dollars the dealer and tranny shop wanted to change the PCS. Best part is any shadetree mechanic can do this. :) :)
